چکیده

Abstract The concept of geoheritage is related to places geological interest, generally aesthetic, cultural, socio-economic and/or scientific value. Many geosites are karstic nature, because their intrinsic beauty, singularity and high geodiversity. Caves among the most visited economically exploited landforms. They constitute as a whole, with scenic landscapes, hydrogeological importance presence bewildering natural rock mineral formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones many other bizarre speleothem shapes. In some cases, single speleothem, palaeoclimate record it contains, can be on its own extraordinary science. Once studied, these samples often stored in research institution collections, rarely accessible wide public. this paper, we report museumization stalagmite that has delivered unique exceptionally long glacial climate from southern Italy, shedding light causes led Neanderthal contraction Modern Human expansion mild Mediterranean between 45 42 thousands years ago. proposed aims demonstrate potential speleothems, after application, terms educational tourist resources. This approach allows highlight karst cave public, promoting conservation valorisation studied cave-material.

Computational Biology of cardiac arrhythmias: from basic science to application

Cardiac virtual tissues are biophysically, histologically and anatomically detailed computational models that are sufficiently well validated to be used as a predictive tool, are currently used in basic research, and are beginning to be applied to clinical problems. Virtual cardiac cells and tissues are stiff, high order ordinary and partial differential equations. While 1and 2-D tissues can be...

Micro- and mesoporous solids: From science to application

The concept of a porous solid might sound like a term of contradiction as solids are typically regarded as a dense and compact state of matter. Of course this is obviously not so, and zeolites are probably the most prominent representatives of such solids, known for already more than 250 years, and have been used in technical applications for more than 50 years in industry. 200 different struct...

Constraints on Long-Term Seismic Hazard From Vulnerable Stalagmites

As for any model/theory, a probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) model is best tested by comparing its predictions with observations that are independent, e.g. which have not been used for creating the model. Arguably, the most valuable information in the context of seismic hazard analysis is information on long-term hazard, namely maximum intensities (or magnitudes) occuring over time i...

Stable Isotope Application in Animal Nutrition Science

The application of stable isotope analysis (SIA) has become a standard scientific approach in Agricultural and Ecological researches and, more in general, in several disciplines such as biology, botany, zoology, organic chemistry, climatology, and nutrition. The main objectives of this paper are (1) to provide a simple definition of stable isotopes and (2) to illustrate analytical measurement m...
